YEAR OF ZEN: AUTUMN: DAY 39

The Great Wave off Kanagawa - Hokusai

Q: How can you overcome slumps with your mood and mind?

A: I know myself well enough to know that to build a practice of knowing my slumps and corresponding reactions, I need to cultivate a routine that acknowledges when it happens on any given day. Lunch time seems like a good time to check-in. It is the moment during the day when I am transitioning states and actively moving between different tasks and thoughts. Perhaps before I take my first bite of lunch, I should pause for a moment and acknowledge my mood and breath.
