Q: Does it matter if you commit to excellence in your work?

A: I think that a commitment to excellence, coupled with an awareness of chaos and randomness, is a practical and pragmatic way to approach life. There have been plenty of times in my life where what felt like excellent work on my part took a turn I didn’t anticipate and became something else. Sometimes that has made the thing even better and sometimes much worse. But if I am proud of what I did that I had control over than there is deep power in that.
