YEAR OF ZEN: SPRING: DAY 38
Q: What boundaries do you need to strike in your life?
A: There is absolutely a boundary to be struck between respect for authority and unquestioning obedience to authority. And I think it is a two-way street. True authority that comes from an honest and grounded place shouldn’t have a selfish interest in obtaining obedience. Rather, it should be interested in uplifting and helping others finding their authority and influence. To me, that is a virtue and hallmark of what true, effective, self-aware leadership looks like.
