YEAR OF ZEN: SUMMER: DAY 67

Q: We have learned how important it is to wash your hands. How can you experience this as something you are grateful for?

A: One way to honor the act of washing my hands is to use it as an opportunity to remind myself of the necessity of water. Water is precious and something all life on this planet requires. Another thought is using the act of hand washing to reflect on recent human history and the discovery that keeping hands clean and sanitary has greatly reduced disease, suffering, and death. Finally, it can be a moment to reflect on the sheer pleasure of the feeling of liquid on skin.
