YEAR OF ZEN: SUMMER: DAY 46
Looking Down the Yosemite Valley – Albert Bierstadt
Q: How does vulnerability impact your willingness toward adventure?
A: I have been fortunate in my life to have had many adventures without causing myself any permanent, lasting damage. That said, I am always aware that the risk is there and try to mitigate it to the best of my abilities. I try to live a life of adventure with awareness of the eternal truth that there are old adventurers and there are bold adventurers, but there are few old, bold adventurers. Of course you can’t mitigate all risk, so I also try to show gratitude for every adventure and every time I make it home safe from one. There is risk simply stepping out the door everyday and, for me, the life of lived experience is the one worth aspiring for and living.
