Q: In Zen, drugs and alcohol are to be used in moderation or not at all. Is there anything you need to bring into balance in this area?

A: Very timely prompt as I am in the midst of my second Dry January. Last year I decided to try this with the intention of resetting my relationship with alcohol which has been out of balance for too long. I wanted to prove to myself that I can do this and for two straight years it has had the added benefit of helping me build better habits and achieve more of the goals I set out for myself daily. My ongoing intent is to practice true moderation moving forward and I am developing a practical plan for what that entails.
