YEAR OF ZEN: WINTER: DAY 41
NGC 1365 (MIRI Image)
Q: Winter is sometimes used in Zen to indicate the absolute, where nothing can differentiated from anything else in the permanent sense. Can anyone arrive at “winter?”
A: My initial thought is that no, we cannot arrive at winter simply because of the evolutionary limits that are placed on the human mind and experience. We can explore and understand things but getting in tune with the stuff that makes us and connects us continues to exist in the realm of theory and imagination. This would leave a terrifying (and exhilarating) gap in our understanding. I admit that it is highly likely I am very, VERY wrong on this. What I do know for sure is that there is endless possibility and potential to explore and learn more in the pursuit of arriving at “winter.”
