YEAR OF ZEN: WINTER: DAY 59

Neptune

Q: Pick someone familiar and try to see them without whatever story you have about them. What didn’t you notice before?

A: I thought about my mom for this, probably because the most complex relationships many of us hold are with our parents. I know for me that I definitely see both of my parents through more filters and history than anyone else in my life. Seeing my mom without the narrative I have for her is a challenge but if I try I see a person who wants to be loved, and return that love, above all else. I also see someone who has often taken a backseat on things in her life because of it, for better and for worse.
