I Want To Believe
I am a project oriented person, as evidenced by recent foray’s into all things horror (which I actually do every year), and cultural representations of the wild west. I like learning about things by going FULL IMMERSION into them for a bit. With the recent turn of the season, I now find myself wanting to move from all things western into new, fertile, terrain. As such, my attention has now been captured by the paranormal world(s) of alternate dimensions, UFO’s, aliens, cryptids, and the bizarre occult attempts to understand and interact with them. I’ve affectionately named it the “I Want to Believe” project since it fundamentally requires copious viewing of old X-Files episodes.
If there is blame to be placed here it can go to the recent Last Podcast on the Left series that featured Utah’s own Skinwalker Ranch. The LP series was glorious (as was the book it was heavily based on) and it has me planning my own trip to the Uinta Basin with friends in the near future (where we will be on the lookout for orbs, Sasquatch, and whatever other weird phenomena are trying to break their way into our dimension in that spot). Oh, and of course this project will feature a curated soundtrack, but I haven’t had a chance to pull that together yet. In lieu of sharing project-appropriate music, I will instead share access to the nerdy Trello Board I’m building to guide my project “research.” The truth is out there…
