Happy Birthday, Blog!

Let’s just hope that this blog ages better than this driver’s license photo of me at 21.

Let’s just hope that this blog ages better than this driver’s license photo of me at 21.

This post marks one whole year since I set a goal and started posting a blog entry on my website every week (every Saturday at 9:00 AM to be precise). The fact that I have been able to keep it up is noteworthy and cause for celebration! My process has evolved to include the following: dream up an idea at some point in the week, open a draft, refine said draft over the course of the week, and set to go live Saturday morning. Quality varies week to week, and there have been times where I have repurposed content from other blogs I’ve posted on. Like anything, some weeks are better than other. It’s the consistency that counts.

And, so, what will year two look like? Well, I have a loose framework of blog topics I’d like to delve more and more into. The difficulty there is that longer form posts usually need time to breath and grow. This is something that isn’t always conducive to the one week methodology described above. To give myself the necessary time for posts of this ilk, I might make very small weekly check-ins while I work on something with more depth. One goal that I have also had for this exercise is to use it as a place to build on insights, research, and general observation. This takes actually paying attention to, and mapping out, those details.

So, a sense of accomplishment and a path forward…who could ask for more on this particular blog’s birthday! Onwards and upwards.
