Jack's Mountain

Yesterday Reina and I made it out for a cloudy morning summit of Jack’s Mountain (6,475 feet). It is fairly common knowledge that this mountain is named after a little boy who died from leukemia in 1995. There is a monument on the summit to him, with mailboxes that hold his story, as well as the words of others who have made it to the top. The network of trails that connect on the way to the summit are a little overwhelming, but just aim for the ridge and hike east past the prominent cell phone tower to the next neighboring summit of Jack’s. It was a rollercoaster of a week and this was a peaceful way to end it. I can definitely see this summit becoming a semi-regular hiking destination.
