Map of Sheep Herd Exposures to Radiation
This is a 1953 map detailing the location of sheep herds in southern Utah who were exposed to nuclear fallout after above ground nuclear testing was conducted at the Nevada Test Site. It was created as part of the Utah Department of Health’s investigation into questions surrounding radioactive fallout from the Nevada Test Site and its contributing role in the heavy losses of sheep in 1953 among herds that were wintered in areas downwind of the site. This map is held by the Utah State Archives and Records Service and can be found in series 11571.
