YEAR OF ZEN: AUTUMN: DAY 28

The Repast of the Lion - Henri Rousseau

Q: Most people aspire to be their understanding of a good person. That can vary. Have you ever experienced this?

A: I can certainly think of instances where I suppose someone was trying to be “good” but not to the same standards/definitions I hold. That said, I think there some shared, universal bedrock principles that underlie most human “goodness.” And it is readily apparent when these things are missing. Things like honesty, kindness, patience, and caring should all be at the heart of someone’s goodness.
