YEAR OF ZEN: AUTUMN: DAY 32
Filial Piety - Jean-Baptiste Greuze
Q: Many public places are still not set up for people with disabilities. Has this been part of your experience?
A: My experience has been that with progressive ADA legislation and rules in place most budlings I find myself in can accommodate the broad range of human experience relatively well. Historic buildings not so much. Homes especially not. I remember when my dad became disabled. it was a real struggle getting our house set up to accommodate his new needs. It helped me build patience and empathy for those who live with disability. Handing it well is a special form of grace and the least that those of us who don’t face those challenges can do is work to make accommodations.
