YEAR OF ZEN: AUTUMN: DAY 15
Bonjour, Monsieur Courbet - Gustave Courbet
Q: Ups and downs with physical activity are normal. Just begin. Reflect.
A: Moving between activities, especially physical ones, can be difficult. I think about the energy and effort that goes into taking a long hike and how that is usually followed immediately by a lot of sitting and resting. The transition between constant motion followed by stillness is an interesting one. The return to movement after sitting can be a space of stumbling around, walking with short, rigid steps and movements. It takes time to return to balance and equilibrium, even if that equilibrium may have shifted in response to the effort.
