Q: Do you know where your water originates? What is your relationship to, and responsibility to, water?

A: This couldn’t be more pertinent as water as become the premiere issue and concern in Utah (and the Western U.S.) right now. The Great Salt Lake is on the verge of collapse and people are finally beginning to understand how catastrophic that will be for all life along the Wasatch Front. It is also shedding some needed light on how unsustainable the way life is lived in this environment too often is. I do know something about the watershed that sustains us. It is part of the network of water infrastructure that was built as part of the Central Utah Project and much, if not all, of the water that flows through our taps makes its way from the mountains and Deer Creek Reservoir to our home. We have made an active effort to be more mindful of our water usage and habits but even with that awareness there is still so much more that we can improve on.
