Q: How can you make what you study really your own?

A: I would argue that maybe you never truly can. Language is tremendously powerful and a force for carrying and shaping ideas. But it is 100% dependent on context, as we all are. And context shifts and changes with time like sand dunes in the desert. I have studied many things and felt that I have made much of what I have studied “my own.” But then, on inspection, I can see how these things shift and change with the changing context of my life. Words might be failing me on this one…
