YEAR OF ZEN: AUTUMN: DAY 71
Nighthawks - Edward Hopper
Q: Who, across time and space, would you invite to a Gratitude Dinner where you could have conversation and give the thanks that doesn’t quite fit into words?
A: Prompts like this are challenging as a thought exercise because I worry about the millions of human beings that have influenced my life in some way that I will never have a comprehension or knowledge of. And it seems too simple to just say “every artist, poet, philosopher, activist, dreamer, musician, and person who fought to make the human condition slightly better.” So, in lieu of that, I would invite my closest friends and family and thank and raise a toast to all the ghosts who are simultaneously with us, part of us, and absent from us.
