YEAR OF ZEN: SPRING: DAY 34
Q: Little lies can seem harmless, and sometimes necessary, but do they move you off-center?
A: While little lies (or lies by omission) are sometimes necessary my experience has been that avoiding them, and instead adopting a blanket policy of honesty and transparency just makes life less complicated. One lie will often lead to another, or at least use up valuable bandwidth trying to remember what is needed to keep the lie going. Again, it is simply easier to be honest and accept consequences. As a byproduct this attitude and philosophy inherently makes me cultivate a mindset of forgiveness and compassion. I need to hold that open, for myself and for others, and always hope for reciprocity. This is something that I think is easier to give if you are known as an honest person.
