YEAR OF ZEN: SUMMER: DAY 49

“I Have A Dream” - Kadir Nelson

Q: Thank a compassionate leader and be specific about what you appreciate about how they left the world.

A: Dear Dr. Martin Luther King - Thank you for doing the hardest work of looking for the good in people and setting an example for the rest of us. Thank you for holding space for hope and working with others to try and bend laws into alignment with true universal justice. There is still so much work to do, but your example is one every single person can look to, learn from, and aspire towards. You did one of the most admirable things I think someone can do in truly embodying your Christianity. It is a rare thing and a hard thing and it should be celebrated because too many people who claim the same beliefs fail to align themselves and their behaviors accordingly. You made the world, and the rest of us, better with your grace and example.
