YEAR OF ZEN: AUTUMN: DAY 07
Western Landscape - Johann Hermann Carmiencke
Q: What terrain is most comfortable? Most beloved? Least interesting?
A: I am blessed to have lived my life in a place that has dazzling, extreme terrains. I feel comfortable in the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains…in the Great Basin deserts, and in the canyon country of Southern Utah and the Colorado Plateau. Utah is also centrally located, so I have had the opportunity to know and find comfort near the ocean, the in the volcanic landscape of the Cascades, in the high Rockies, and in the weird spaces carved out in (and around) Yellowstone. I feel less comfortable in places east and countries I haven’t been to simply because I haven’t, to this point, had the chance to spend much time in them.
