YEAR OF ZEN: AUTUMN: DAY 78

Kristus i Getsemane - Carl Heinrich Bloch

Q: Imagine compassion was central to all decision-making. How can you work on this?

A: Jumping to conclusions about people and their situations…I do this far too often and it leads me to seeing people more as objects than as fellow human beings. I also think doing a better job of giving people space and grace because you never know what someone else is dealing with at any given point in their life. And I do believe that you get what you give. Being kind and compassionate and holding space for people will, I hope, help them to hold similar space for me during the inevitable moments in my life when I’m going to need it. The world can definitely use more kindness and compassion.
