YEAR OF ZEN: SUMMER: DAY 28

The Good Samaritan - Jacopo Bassano

Q: What are a few thoughts that might lead toward the reality you’d like to live in.

A: The immediate thought that comes to mind for the world I want to live in is one where kindness is foundational. Sadly, there is a shortage of kindness in our world. That said, it remains present and a core component of the social glue that bonds. It is a foundation from which our better virtues can find purchase. I find that when I am kind my heart is open to the possibilities of love. When I am kind, I am more prone to forgive and act with compassion. When I have kindness in my heart, I can empathize and actively seek to learn from perspectives that are not my own. When I am kind the world just becomes clearer and simpler. In kindness my abilities to love, serve, and care become manifest.
