YEAR OF ZEN: SUMMER: DAY 90

Parable of the Good Samaritan - Giacomo Conti

Q: What is the kindest thing you remember witnessing or becoming aware of?

A: The most compassionate things I have witnessed and read about revolve around palliative care and the people who are strong enough to take on that difficult (sacred) work. I have also witnessed profound compassion from people who work to ease the burdens of the less fortunate. The thing about compassion is that it is usually quit but all around us if we pay attention to it. It is also the highest part of our nature and in my experience it compounds on itself once you give yourself over to it. AND, it is so easy to cultivate! Simply being kind: to myself…to animals…to those around me. Again, so much of the good things in life flow from these headwaters.
